Meet the Veterinarians & Team of Mulford Animal Hospital in Rockford.
Our professional team headed by Dr. Katie Harbach, D.V.M., and Dr. Donna L. Mueller, D.V.M. guarantees satisfaction in every quality service that we render. Let us put our knowledge and experience to work for you and your pets.

Dr. Katie Harbach, D.V.M.

Veterinarian/Owner
Dr. Katie Harbach Schulz grew up on a farm in Freeport, IL loving and working with an array of different animals. She graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Since then she has worked in small animal practices full time and was the lead program veterinarian teaching certified veterinary technicians while working as a relief doctor. Dr. Harbach enjoys working with all animals but focuses on dogs, cats, and exotics. She joined us here at Mulford Animal Hospital in 2017 and, while she loved the teaching aspect of the field, her true passions lie in the relationships she builds with her clients and patients. She enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine but really focuses on internal medicine, ultrasound and ophthalmology. When not working she enjoys time with her family, husband, Jeremy, two boys, Zane and Dexter, and her dog, Rayna.

Dr. Donna L. Mueller, D.V.M.

Veterinarian
Dr Donna Mueller has been providing care for pets at Mulford Animal Hospital since 2002. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Rockford College before attending the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. After earning her DVM in 1986 she practiced small animal medicine in a large practice in Chicago for 16 years before returning to her hometown of Winnebago. She has a daughter, Cora who is currently attending college. Dr. Mueller spends much of her free time keeping up her small farm and caring for her five dogs, four alpacas, and George, her llama. She is kept busy training her dogs in obedience, rally and agility and she and her dogs often participate in local dog shows. She also greatly enjoys walking her dogs and biking in local parks although she admits to being a true fair weather outdoor enthusiast only.

Kristin

Practice Manager and Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
Kristin has been working in the veterinary field for over 20 years. She received her veterinary technician degree from Parkland College and became certified in 2001 as a CVT. Since then she has worked in multiple aspects of the field including general practice, emergency care, and education as a vet tech instructor for 10 years at Rockford Career College. She is also the author of Essential Clinical Procedures for the Veterinary Technician, a step-by-step approach vet tech text book. Kristin enjoys spending time on the lake with her husband, 2 boys, family and friends and their dogs, Trigger and Lady.

Kayla

Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
Kayla graduated from Rockford Career College in 2017 with an associates in veterinary technology and is a certified veterinary technician. Kayla enjoys making a positive difference in the lives of animals and their owners. She has four fur babies- 2 dogs and 2 cats.  In her free time she enjoys crafting, photography and reading while drinking a good cup of coffee. Kayla also loves to go camping, boating or exploring a new park with her husband and two kids.

Taylor

Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
Taylor has been with Mulford Animal Hospital for 7 years and is recent graduate of Penn Foster’s veterinary technician program. She has also recently passed her board exam to become a Certified Veterinary Technician! Next time you see Taylor, join us in congratulating her! She grew up in Pecatonica surrounded by all different types of animals. She has two dogs, Nike is a pit bull mix and Peyton is a chihuahua mix. In her spare time she loves to snuggle with her pups, stay active, watch sports and be around friends and family.

Regan

Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
Regan has always loved animals and knew that she wanted to go into the veterinary field from a very young age. Right after graduating high school, she attended RCC veterinary technician program and graduated in 2018. Regan has 2 dogs at home, a great pyrenees mix and a border collie mix, and 3 cats. When Regan is not busy with animals, she enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends. Regan recently passed her board exam to become a Certified Veterinary Technician! Next time you see Regan, join us in congratulating her!!

Maggie

Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
Maggie is a graduate of Rockford Career College where she earned her associates degree in veterinary technology. She started with Mulford Animal Hospital as an extern and is excited to now join us as a vet tech. Maggie has known she wanted to go into the veterinary field from a very young age. She has two dogs and a cat at home. In her free time she loves to read, watch movies, and spend time with her friends and family. Congratulate Maggie next time you see her as she passed her board exam this past winter to join our team of amazing CVTs! 

Lilly

Customer Service Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant
Lilly has been a member of Mulford Animal Hospital since 2015. She graduated from Rock Valley College with her Associate of Arts in 2020 and now attends Northern Illinois University. Although her education isn’t centered around animals, she has always had a love and passion for them for as long as she can remember. Lilly has three dogs at home, a pit mix named Roxy, a chihuahua named Roger, and a chihuahua named Beany Baby. 

Rachel

Veterinary Technician/Customer Service Receptionist
Rachel has been working for Mulford Animal Hospital for over 12 years. She started working with us immediately after receiving her veterinary technician degree from Rockford Career College and has been a vital team member ever since. She has always had a huge passion for caring for animals and has loved getting to know each client and patient on an individual basis over the past years. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys spending time at home with her fiancé and her morkie, Hazel.

Deanna

Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
Deanna joined our team in October, 2022! She is a graduate of the Rockford Career College Veterinary Technician program and has been working in veterinary medicine since 2011. During her years in the field she has gained some invaluable experience especially with cats. She has 3 dogs; Grizzly (Doberman mix), Scout (German Shepherd), and Piper (Boxer mix). In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her family and friends and going camping. She is also a talented baker and enjoys making and decorating cakes.

Kassy

Veterinary Assistant
Kassy joined our team in October, 2022! She found her calling young and started working in the veterinary field when she was just 16! She has always loved animals and knew this was the field for her. She loves ever aspect of the field and you will find her helping our technicians with your pets or see her smiling face to assist you at our front desk. Kassy practically has a zoo at home with her dogs, cats, ferrets, and guinea pigs. In her spare time she enjoys a quiet evening at home with her husband and all of her furry babies.

Lynn

Veterinary Technician
Lynn graduated from Rockford Career College in 2010 and started working for us the fall of 2021. She was previously at Winnebago County Animal Services and has volunteered at Summerfield Zoo. She has two daughters and two dogs, Roxanna the chiweenie and Clayton “Booger” the pomchi. In her spare time, Lynn like to crochet, garden, and raise monarch butterflies. She enjoys caring for all patients while bringing a smile to client’s faces.

Liz

Veterinary Assistant

Liz has been a Mulford Animal Hospital team member since August 2019.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences in 2008.  Liz has had the joy of working with a variety of animal handling and management aspects of the field. She left in 2022 to pursue a different area of the field but quickly realized her passion for caring and working with patients on a daily basis rejoining our team in 2023! She loves caring for her hobby farm with horses, sheep, goats, chickens, 3 cats and  her 2 dogs.

Emma

Receptionist

Emma joined our team spring 2024 as a receptionist but also to build her experience as she attends veterinary technician school in preparation for graduation in 2026! She enjoys spending much of her time outside of work and school with her fiancé, mom, dog, 3 cats, guinea pigs, and her hobby farm animals including chickens, ducks, and geese.
